Fatal Head-on Collision on B304 Near Oberteisendorf
A serious traffic accident occurred on the B304 between Oberteisendorf and Surberg on Friday evening, resulting in one fatality and injuries to five others. The incident, a head-on collision, took place shortly after 6:00 PM.
According to preliminary reports from the Freilassing police station, a vehicle unexpectedly veered into the oncoming lane and collided with an Audi occupied by four residents of Traunstein.All six individuals involved sustained injuries. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, one passenger in the Audi died at the scene.
The remaining five injured individuals were transported to hospitals in Bad Reichenhall, Traunstein, and Salzburg with injuries ranging from serious to minor. Police report three people were seriously injured, two moderately, and one slightly.Both vehicles involved suffered total economic loss.
First responders, including three off-duty firefighters from Anger and Piding who were traveling by bus, immediately began providing first aid and initiating rescue procedures. The Oberteisendorf volunteer fire departments (Rückstetten, Surberg, and Traunstein), along with ambulances from Surheim, Bad Reichenhall, Teisendorf, and Traunstein, and emergency doctors from Bad Reichenhall and Traunstein, were dispatched to the scene.A firefighter sustained a hand injury during the operation and received medical attention.
The B304 was closed in both directions for approximately an hour and a half (until 10:00 PM) to facilitate accident inquiry and recovery. Traffic control and technical rescue were managed by surrounding volunteer fire brigades.
The Freilassing police are conducting a thorough investigation in collaboration with the Traunstein Public prosecutor’s Office.A technical and accident analysis report has been ordered to determine the cause of the collision.
