Strava Launches Real-Time Ski Tracking, Eliminates Chairlift Data
San Francisco, CA - Strava, the leading social platform for athletes, has introduced live tracking and analysis for skiing and snowboarding, marking the first time the app has offered dedicated, real-time feedback for winter sports. The update provides slope-specific data previously unavailable without relying on resort applications or specialized ski wearables.
Previously, skiers and snowboarders using Strava faced inaccurate stats due to the inclusion of chairlift time and distance in overall totals. The new feature automatically filters out these periods, delivering a precise measure of actual time spent on the slopes. strava Premium subscribers gain access to even deeper insights, including a run-by-run breakdown and the ability to share winter activities with a winter-themed Flyover map.
Beyond tracking, Strava has enhanced its mapping tools for winter activities. Users can now leverage existing winter map layers – including 3D terrain and avalanche gradient details (for Premium subscribers) - to plan routes and assess conditions before heading out. Ski runs and lift stations are also now visible directly on the Strava map, simplifying navigation within resorts.
The updates are available now within the Strava app, accessible to all users with a free account. https://www.strava.com/
