DENTON, Texas (Nov. 18, 2025) – The Texas Woman’s University basketball team surged into the national spotlight this week, earning a No. 6 ranking in the Women’s Basketball Coaches association (WBCA) national Poll. The Pioneers‘ strong start to the season has positioned them among the nation’s elite programs.
TWU‘s 3-1 record includes a home victory over Wayne State and a narrow defeat against Harding, currently ranked No. 10. following the home opener, the Pioneers embarked on a prosperous road trip, securing decisive wins against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents Colorado School of Mines and UCCS, winning by an average of 18 points. This ranking reflects the team’s early success and sets the stage for a competitive season within the Lone Star Conference and the South Central Region.
Currently, the Pioneers lead the Lone Star Conference with a field goal percentage of 44.5%, while averaging 70 points per game. Their performance has garnered attention within the region, with Lubbock Christian (4-0) also appearing in the national rankings at No. 7. Colorado Mesa (4-1), a fellow South Central Region team, remains at No. 21.
Nationally, Grand Valley State (4-0) holds the top spot, followed by Pittsburg State (2-0), which climbed from No. 7 to No. 2, and Fort Hays State (2-0), jumping from No. 9 to No. 3.
TWU returns home this week to face Southern Nazarene, a team receiving votes in the poll. The Pioneers will look to continue their momentum and solidify their position as a top contender.
