Brutal Attack at Place des Lices Leads to Inquiry
Rennes police responded to a disturbing incident at Place des Lices early saturday, November 15th, arriving on scene at approximately 1:40 a.m. to find an individual suffering from severe injuries. Emergency services transported the victim to a hospital, where their condition is currently critical.
initial reports from witnesses indicate the victim was repeatedly struck in the back and head with a baseball bat, even after losing consciousness. Investigators quickly determined a second adult allegedly provided the weapon to the assailant.
the case was immediately assigned to the Territorial Crime Division (DCT) of the Rennes police station. Their swift investigation led to the identification of three individuals involved in the attack on the same day. According to Public Prosecutor Frédéric Teillet, the incident was deliberately recorded by a minor.
All three suspects were apprehended on November 15th and taken into police custody. They subsequently confessed to their roles in the assault. Authorities confirmed the two adults have no prior criminal record,while the minor had been previously summoned to appear before a children’s judge regarding separate incidents of aggravated violence.
On Monday,November 17th,the Rennes public prosecutor’s office formally opened a judicial investigation focusing on charges of attempted assassination and complicity in assassination. following indictment, an investigating judge placed the minor under judicial supervision and ordered the two adults to be held in pre-trial detention. The investigation remains ongoing.
