Hamburg Theater Prize: Nine Artists Honored for Outstanding Achievements

Hamburg theatre professionals were honored Sunday night at ‍the Rolf Mares Prize ceremony, recognizing excellence in acting, direction, and ⁢staging. ‌The awards, presented November 17, 2024, spotlighted contributions to the city’s ⁣vibrant performing​ arts scene.

The Rolf Mares Prize, a prestigious accolade⁤ within Hamburg’s cultural landscape, acknowledges outstanding achievements in⁤ the theater community. This year’s recipients represent a diverse‍ range of productions and theaters, underscoring the breadth of talent within the city. The awards aim ⁤to foster continued artistic innovation and recognize the dedication of those working to enrich Hamburg’s cultural offerings.

Two⁤ actors received awards⁤ in the acting category: ⁣Cordelia Koschinski for her performance in “Die Möwe” at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus and Christoph Marti for his role in “Der Boxer” at the St. Pauli Theater. ⁣

Björn Kruse and ​Jette Steckel were jointly recognized in the “Outstanding Direction/Staging” category.Kruse was honored for his production of ​”Michael Kohlhaas”‌ at the Theater, while Steckel​ received the award for “asche” at Thalia⁢ on Gaußstrasse.

A “Special Prize” was​ awarded to the Ernst Deutsch Theater, Ohnsorg Theater, and the Lichthof​ Theater for their collaborative adaptation of “Odyssey.”
