Guatemala to Gain Tariff-Free Access for 66 Agricultural Products in U.S. Market
Guatemala will soon export 66 agricultural products to the United States without tariffs, a advancement stemming from a recent U.S. executive order and the “reciprocal Trade Agreement.” The Ministry of Economy confirmed that the zero-tariff request for some products is already in effect, while the remaining will be implemented at a later date, potentially as early as January 2026.
The list of products benefiting from this agreement includes items such as turmeric (41), various spices like anise and caraway seeds (45), orange juice (47), pepper (48, 64), vanilla beans (52), coffee (63), and a range of fruits including guavas, mangoes, and papayas (61, 62, 65). Other included goods are mineral fertilizers (42), animal/vegetable fertilizers (43), palm hearts (44), and cassava (58).
This tariff elimination is expected to boost Guatemalan exports and strengthen economic ties with the U.S. According to the Ministry of Economy, the immediate application of zero tariffs aligns with the stipulations of the U.S. executive order, while the phased implementation of the remaining products is tied to the broader “Reciprocal Trade Agreement.”
