Provence Pied-à-Terre Transformed: 24 Square Meters of ‍Retirement Bliss

Bandol, ⁤France – A ⁣dated 24-square-meter apartment in Bandol, Provence, has undergone a stunning ⁤change, ⁢delivering a modern,‌ pleasant, and cleverly designed space for a‍ retiring couple. Interior designer Stéphanie Le Rouzic, founder of the Mars Avril agency, spearheaded the renovation, turning a poorly configured residence into a functional and ⁢inviting⁣ Mediterranean ⁣retreat.

The homeowners, a couple from ‍Bouches-du-Rhône, ‍sought to shed the apartment’s outdated seaside aesthetic and create a⁤ space optimized for⁣ both daily ‍living and entertaining.their vision ⁣included a ‌secluded bedroom, ⁢full kitchen amenities ⁣(dishwasher ⁣and washing machine), and⁤ a defined dining area – all within the compact footprint. ⁤”They wanted to ⁤have ‌fun, because they⁤ knew they were going to spend more time there,” recalls Le Rouzic.

Le Rouzic approached the project as ‍”my Tetris project!” beginning ⁢with floor repairs and the application of polished concrete over existing tile, expertly executed by Ad‍ Astra.‍ Walls ‍were painted a ⁣crisp white to create a neutral⁢ backdrop for a soft, Japandi-inspired atmosphere. The bedroom‍ was ⁣re-imagined as a cabin-like⁢ space, elevated on a small platform to maximize storage ‍below.

The renovation was completed by Renoov and featured⁤ custom joinery by ⁢Marseille-based cabinetmaker Mr. Rozé.

  • Duration of work : 3‌ months
  • Cost of renovation ⁤ : 45,300 euros, excluding fees
