Space Marine 2 Support Remains Priority Despite Space Marine 3 Declaration
Montreal, QC - February 29, 2024 – Saber Interactive has moved to reassure Warhammer 40,000: space Marine 2 fans that the announcement of Space Marine 3 will not impact ongoing support for the recently released cooperative shooter. The studio confirmed continued commitment to expanding Space Marine 2 with new content and updates.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has sold over 7 million copies since its launch. While the initial story and “Operations” mode are complete, Saber Interactive intends to build upon the game’s foundation, operating it in a manner similar to a live service title without fully being one.
Concerns arose following the early announcement of Space Marine 3, with fans questioning whether resources would be diverted from Space Marine 2. Oliver Hollis-Leick,Creative Director at Saber Interactive, addressed these concerns during a Warhammer TV broadcast, stating the two projects are not competing for resources.
Hollis-Leick indicated that Space Marine 3 is in the very early stages of development, with an estimated four-year development cycle. This timeline means the studio’s primary focus remains on maintaining and expanding Space Marine 2 untill the sequel’s anticipated release between 2028 and 2030 (according to PC Gamer reporting).
Season Two of Space Marine 2‘s content roadmap demonstrates this commitment, with recent additions including new missions, enemies, and a positively received Horde mode. Future updates will include the addition of the Techmarine playable caste and expansion of the Battle Barge, alongside other improvements.
“The existence of Space Marine 3 in no way hinders this plan,” the article states, summarizing Saber Interactive’s position.
