Israeli Government⁢ to Launch Inquiry into October 7 Attacks

JERUSALEM – The ⁣Israeli government will form a commission of inquiry to investigate the events surrounding the October 7 ⁢attacks, according to reports in the⁣ press. The commission’s formation⁤ comes amid ongoing debate and scrutiny regarding the preparedness of Israeli security forces and intelligence agencies prior to ‍the Hamas-led assault.

The move follows repeated calls ⁣for accountability from the public and families of ⁤victims.Details regarding‌ the commission’s scope, timeline, and members have not yet been released.

The October 7 attacks, which involved a multi-pronged ⁣assault from Gaza, resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 Israelis and the abduction of over 240 others. The attacks triggered a large-scale military response from Israel, leading to a continuing conflict in the ⁤Gaza Strip.

Recent developments surrounding‌ the conflict include a UN Security Council vote ‍scheduled for Monday on an american draft resolution regarding Gaza, which raises the possibility of a future Palestinian state – a prospect firmly opposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ⁣and several of his ministers. “Our opposition to a Palestinian state on any territory has‌ not changed,” Netanyahu stated Sunday, opening a council of ministers.

The American draft resolution⁤ also endorses Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, authorizing the deployment of‌ an international stabilization force” and ‍establishing a ‍ “peace committee” chaired by Donald Trump to ⁣administer the territory provisionally until the end of December 2027.
