Rebel Announces Cancer Diagnosis, Battles neurological Disorder
AEW personality Rebel has revealed she is battling primary pulmonary lymphoma, a cancer of the lungs, alongside a separate neurological disorder impacting her mobility and speech. The proclamation came via a recent post on her Instagram account.
Initially misdiagnosed with cryptococcal pneumonia, Rebel stated, “And they found that it was not cryptococcal pneumonia this whole time and that it is primary pulmonary lymphoma, which is cancer in the lungs, and if there is a best-case scenario, then I have it.”
Adding to the challenges, Rebel is also experiencing functional neurological disorder, which has affected her ability to walk, requiring her to use a walker. She described further symptoms, noting, “And my ability to speak clearly, I don’t know if you could tell, but sounds like I bit my tongue, and I’ve also lost the ability, or some ability, plus a function, I guess I should say, of my right hand, and I kind of have like a claw hand, and so it’s hard for me to use my right, my dominant hand.”
Rebel is currently undergoing an aggressive, full-time rehabilitation program for the neurological disorder. Before lymphoma treatment can begin, she is addressing a serious infection with IV antibiotics, with hopes of clearing it by December. A third bronchoscopy is planned to determine the best course of action – chemotherapy or radiation – with treatment anticipated to start around the beginning of 2026.
Known to AEW fans as the assistant to Dr. Britt baker, D.M.D., Rebel also previously competed in TNA/Impact Wrestling as a member of The Menagerie and The Dollhouse.
