Galatasaray Eyes Ruben Neves as Midfield Reinforcement
Istanbul, Turkey – November 16, 2025 – Galatasaray is bolstering its pursuit of midfield talent, adding Portuguese international Ruben Neves to a list that already includes Frank Anguissa and Raphael Onyedika. The Turkish giants are aiming to strengthen their squad for continued success in both the Super Lig and the Champions League.
Sources indicate Galatasaray has initiated contact with Neves, currently playing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. This marks a shift in focus for the club, wich had previously been linked with players in European leagues.
Neves, 28, continues to feature prominently for the Portuguese national team, recently completing a full 90 minutes in a match against Ireland – a testament to his maintained form despite playing outside of Europe.
The midfielder’s current contract with Al-Hilal is set to expire at the end of the season, and he is reportedly eager to return to competitive European football. several clubs are monitoring the situation, but Galatasaray appears to be a strong contender. Portuguese media outlets report Neves views a move to a Champions League-caliber club, such as Galatasaray, favorably.
Neves joined Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023 for a reported €55 million transfer fee from wolverhampton Wanderers, bringing an end to his six-year stint in the Premier League. Prior to that, he rose to prominence at Porto, earning a move to England for approximately €18 million in 2017.
Despite the change in scenery to saudi Arabia, Neves has continued to impress, scoring three goals in eight matches while playing as a defensive midfielder. His set-piece ability, particularly his free-kicks, has been a notable asset.
Galatasaray will hope to capitalize on Neves’ desire to return to Europe and secure a meaningful upgrade to their midfield as they push for further domestic and continental success.
