Châtillon-sur-Seine Pharmacies Join National Effort to Support Women Facing Cancer
Châtillon-sur-Seine, France – local pharmacies are bolstering a nationwide initiative providing comfort and care to women battling cancer. The Saint-Vorles,Rive-de-Seine,and Centrale pharmacies are now official collection points for “Donne ton soutif” (Donate Your Bra),a French association celebrating its 5th anniversary and dedicated to supporting women throughout their cancer journey.
The “Donne ton soutif” association operates over 1,500 collection points across France, and emphasizes a year-round commitment to the cause, operating under the motto: “Pink October is 365 days a year.” Collected bras are resold, with proceeds directly funding comfort treatments and adapted physical activities for women undergoing treatment and recovery. In the last six months alone, the association has redistributed €3,560 for these vital services.
At the Saint-Vorles pharmacy,a collection point established roughly a week ago, approximately ten bras have already been donated. Pharmacist Stéphane Aubry highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating his team responds “always with pleasure” when presented with opportunities to help. “We’re accustomed to getting involved in various solidarity actions,” Aubry explained.
The pharmacy’s participation is further strengthened by a collaboration with a local nurse, reinforcing the project’s community ties.
Bras suitable for resale must be clean and retain their size label for accurate sorting. Those that don’t meet these criteria are donated to partner organizations like the Red Cross for alternative repurposing. Resalable bras are then repackaged and sold through pop-up shops and garage sales, directly translating donations into tangible support for women in need.
