ANYbotics CEO: Autonomous Robots Are Moving Beyond Automation to Full operational Roles
Zurich, Switzerland – The future of industrial work is shifting from simple robotic automation to fully autonomous operations, according to Peter fankhauser, co-founder and CEO of ANYbotics. The company, a leader in autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) powered by artificial intelligence, is deploying its ANYmal robots for increasingly complex tasks like industrial inspections, remote operations, and predictive maintenance, addressing critical challenges in safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
ANYbotics’ approach represents a significant evolution in robotics, moving beyond pre-programmed tasks to robots capable of navigating dynamic environments and making real-time decisions. This transition is driven by labor shortages and a growing need to remove workers from hazardous situations, especially in sectors like energy, power, metals, mining, and chemicals. Founded in 2009, ANYbotics has secured over $150 million in funding and employs 200 experts across offices in Zurich and San Francisco, serving hundreds of customers globally.
Fankhauser, who holds a doctorate from ETH Zurich and has 15 years of experience in robotics, emphasizes that ANYmal robots are designed for advanced mobility and real-time data collection. This capability allows them to perform routine inspections, conduct remote operations, and facilitate predictive maintenance, ultimately improving operational outcomes for their clients. The company’s focus is on tackling industry challenges and providing solutions that enhance both worker safety and overall productivity.
