WASHINGTON – Rep.Marjorie Taylor Greene said Wednesday she has received new threats as her public disagreements with former President Donald Trump intensify, particularly over her push for the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.
The Georgia Republican has recently broken with her party and Speaker Mike Johnson on healthcare policy, criticizing GOP leadership for lacking solutions to rising costs. Simultaneously, Greene has faced pressure from the White House, alongside three other Republican lawmakers, to withdraw her support for a House petition demanding the Justice Department release Epstein-related files.
Greene has remained steadfast in her call for the release of the files, stating in a social media post, “I now have a small understanding of the fear and pressure the women, who are victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his cabal, must feel.” She also suggested Trump’s recent attacks on her are linked to her position on the Epstein matter, writing, “It really makes you wonder what is in those files and who and what country is putting so much pressure on him? I forgive him and I will pray for him to return to his original MAGA promises.”
The escalating tension follows the release earlier this week of a trove of Epstein-related documents by the House Oversight and Reform Committee, including emails where Epstein frequently referenced Trump. Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and has not been charged with any criminal activity in connection with the case. On Wednesday, Trump accused Democrats of “using the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax to try and deflect from their massive failures” in a post on Truth Social.
