Shiffrin Dominates Levi Slalom First Run, Two French Skiers Advance
LEVI, Finland - Mikaela Shiffrin posted the fastest time in the first round of the World Cup slalom in Levi, Finland, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, finishing in 56″08. The American skier leads Lara Colturi of Albania by 1″08, with Germany’s Lena Duerr in third, 1″49 behind Shiffrin. Shiffrin’s strong performance puts her in contention for a ninth reindeer, traditionally awarded to the winner of the Levi slalom.
This race marks the opening slalom of the World Cup season and is a key early indicator of form for the world’s top female slalom skiers.Shiffrin, a previous eight-time winner in Levi, aims to extend her winning streak at the Finnish resort. While the top of the leaderboard appears secure, a tight battle for the podium is anticipated, with seven skiers within 84 hundredths of each other.
Two French skiers qualified for the second run: Manon Chevrier finished 13th, 2″15 behind Shiffrin, and Caitlin McFarlane secured 17th place, 2″42 off the pace.World Cup debutantes Annabel Jallat and Marjolaine Ollier,both 22,did not qualify for the second round.
