Trump Responds to Appearance in Newly Released Epstein emails by Demanding DOJ Investigation of Clinton,Summers,Hoffman
WASHINGTON – Former President Donald Trump responded to his depiction in a fresh batch of Jeffrey Epstein’s emails by calling for a department of Justice investigation into a range of prominent Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman. The newly unsealed court documents reveal Epstein’s frequently critical and frequently enough antagonistic assessments of Trump, contradicting the former president’s previous statements about their relationship.
The released files, which Trump characterized as part of a Democratic “Epstein Hoax” intended to distract from other issues, show Epstein repeatedly discussing Trump with lawyers, acquaintances, reporters, academics, and political figures. In a 2017 exchange, Epstein dismissed Trump as “dumb,” stating, “your world does not understand how dumb he really is. he will blame everyone around him.” A year later, he described Trump as “evil beyond belief, mad… nuts!!!”
The emails also challenge Trump’s claim that he expelled Epstein from mar-a-Lago for inappropriate behavior. In a 2019 message to author Michael Wolff,Epstein wrote,”Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever.” He further claimed a woman who worked at the club had been involved with him and that “Trump knew of it, and came to my house many times during that period,” assertions the White House has denied.
One particularly striking line from a 2011 note to Ghislaine Maxwell reads,”that dog that hasn’t barked is trump.. [Victim] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned.” The White House, during a press conference, referenced the testimony of Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein accuser who died earlier this year, stating Trump did not participate “in anything.”
Epstein also alluded to possessing leverage over Trump, writing in a December 2018 exchange, “yes thx. its wild. because i am the one able to take him down.”
In response to the release, Trump has called for scrutiny of others mentioned in the documents. He specifically demanded the DOJ investigate Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman, though the nature of their connections to Epstein as revealed in the files remains unclear.
JPMorgan Chase, which previously managed epstein’s accounts, stated it would not have kept him as a client had it known of his crimes. JPMorgan did not instantly respond to a request for comment regarding Trump’s call for further investigation. The White house also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
