Arc Raiders Dev Addresses Cosmetic Pricing, Issues Refunds, and Confirms Duo Matchmaking Fix
Arc Raiders developer Modai has responded to community feedback regarding the pricing of cosmetic items, announcing price reductions and offering full refunds to players who purchased them before the changes. Simultaneously, the team revealed it had “silently” enabled a prioritized matchmaking system favoring duos, addressing a long-standing player request for improved team-up experiences.
The adjustments come after significant criticism surrounding the cost of cosmetic bundles, with players expressing concerns they were disproportionately expensive. Modai has since lowered prices across the board and is proactively issuing refunds for all cosmetic purchases made prior to the update. “We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear regarding the pricing of cosmetics,” the developer stated in a community update. “We made a mistake, and we’re taking steps to correct it.”
Released in September 2023, Arc Raiders is a free-to-play extraction shooter where players team up to venture into a hostile, alien-occupied Earth to salvage valuable technology. The game quickly gained traction, surpassing 4 million copies sold worldwide in under two weeks and peaking at 700,000 concurrent players across all platforms.IGN awarded the game a 9/10 ”Amazing” score, praising its ”incredibly gripping progression grind, tense fights…and loot that feels fully worth all the work and stress it takes to obtain it.”
Beyond the pricing adjustments, Modai confirmed a fix for duo matchmaking. Players previously reported difficulty finding partners for coordinated gameplay. The developer explained the system was implemented without prior announcement to assess its effectiveness. “We silently rolled out a prioritized matchmaking system that favors duos,” the update explained.”We wanted to test it without influencing player behavior, and the results have been positive.”
The developer also announced a substantial December update, “Cold Snap,” which will introduce a new region, a new community unlock event, two new ARCs – Matriarch and Shredder – as well as new weapons, playstyles, and quests.
