Title: Illinois Wesleyan Cross Country Heads to Regional Championships

WAVERLY,⁤ Iowa – The ‌Illinois Wesleyan University cross country teams are ⁣set to compete at the⁤ NCAA Division III Midwest Regional⁣ on Saturday, ‍Nov.11, at⁤ Max Cross Country Course hosted⁢ by‍ Wartburg College.The women’s team⁣ is currently ranked 10th in the Midwest Region ⁣by the ‌United​ States​ Track ⁢and⁢ Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, while ‌the men’s team will look to build on a strong ⁢conference showing.

The regional ⁤meet serves as a qualifier for the NCAA⁤ Division III National Championships. The top teams and⁤ individual finishers will advance ⁣to‍ the‍ national meet, scheduled for Nov. 18 in Newville, pennsylvania. Illinois Wesleyan’s⁢ women’s program finished third at ​the CCIW Championships with 92 points, and the​ men’s ‌squad placed fifth with‍ 153 ​points – an improvement from‍ their previous season’s result.

Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) leads the⁤ Titan⁢ women, seeking her‌ fifth ‍victory of the ⁤season and sixth overall.⁢ She recently matched a⁣ 22-year-old CCIW Championship record, finishing ‍the race in a program-record time ⁣of 21:05.1. ⁣Brooke Nazos (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia) earned​ Second Team all-CCIW accolades for the third consecutive season with a 16th-place finish at the CCIW Championship.

On the men’s side, Zack Daniel (Lake ‌Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) was ⁣the sole All-CCIW finisher, claiming 12th-place with a career-best time of 25:43.2 – the 12th-best time in IWU history.

Both teams have prior experience at the Max cross ⁤Country Course, having competed⁢ at the Dan hutson Invite on ⁣Oct. 4, where five Titans recorded career-best times. Crabtree finished fourth at​ that event.
