woman Who Alerted Police to Paris Attack Plot Breaks Silence in New Docufiction
PARIS – The woman whose crucial tip-off helped locate key perpetrators of the November 13, 2015, Paris attacks, has broken her silence in a groundbreaking new docufiction, Le Choix de Sonia (“Sonia’s Choice”), set to air on France 2 on November 13, 2025. For a decade, Sonia lived under witness protection, her identity concealed after revealing her unwitting connection to Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the alleged mastermind of the attacks.
On November 13, 2015, while watching news unfold of the attacks at the Stade de france, Parisian terraces, and the Bataclan, Sonia unknowingly harbored a young woman linked to Abaaoud. Two days later, she found herself at the center of the investigation, making the agonizing decision to alert authorities. Her data directly led to the location of two terrorists on the run. “Sonia decides to alert the police. His information will make it possible to locate two terrorists on the run,” reports Télérama.
The film, directed by David André and journalist Violette Lazard, blends Sonia’s detailed testimony – her face never shown – with fictionalized scenes portraying her experience, powerfully brought to life by actress Carima Amarouche. This hybrid approach isn’t merely illustrative; the fiction, interwoven with accounts from investigators, aims to deepen understanding and empathy for a woman who, in the face of unimaginable circumstances, demonstrated extraordinary courage. Le Choix de Sonia explores the irreversible consequences of her actions, the erasure of her former life, and the enduring weight of her choice. The documentary is available to stream on france.tv.
