Jackie Chan to Donate €400 Million Fortune, Excludes Son from Inheritance
HONG KONG – Action superstar Jackie Chan has announced his intention to donate his entire €400 million fortune to charity, stating he believes his son, Jaycee Chan, will be capable of earning his own wealth. The decision, revealed in recent interviews, underscores Chan’s belief in the value of hard work and self-reliance.
Chan, whose career spans over 40 years, emphasized that he doesn’t want his son to “depend on” his wealth. “If he is capable, he can make his own fortune. It’s not my job to give him a free ride,” Chan reportedly said.
The declaration comes amid a complex father-son relationship, marked by a notably challenging period in 2015 when Jaycee Chan was sentenced to six months in prison in China on drug-related charges.
Chan began his artistic career in the 1970s in Hong Kong as a film double, rising to prominence with films like ‘The Eight Leaps of the Dragon’ (1976),’Intriga mortal’ (1977),’The Apprentice of If Fu’ (1978),’Magnificent Defenders’ (1978),and ‘The Invincible Master’ (1978). He later established himself as a major figure in Hollywood after an initial foray into the North American film industry.
Despite his decades-long success, Chan maintains a firm stance on the importance of earning one’s own way, a principle he hopes to instill in his son and future generations.
