PSSI Considers Timur Kapadze as Potential Indonesian National Team Coach
Jakarta – The Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) is evaluating Timur Kapadze, the recently departed assistant coach of Uzbekistan, as a candidate to lead the Indonesian national team. This comes after the vacancy created by the passing of Patrick Kluivert and amid public support for kapadze, fueled by his success in guiding Uzbekistan to 2026 World cup qualification.
The search for a new national team coach is underway, with Kapadze emerging as a strong contender. PSSI Chairman of the National Team board, Sumardji, confirmed the federation is considering the 44-year-old tactician, though no formal discussions have yet taken place. “Currently there are no discussions. (Timur Kapadze) is one of the (potential national team coaches) that I conveyed to the Director of Technology,” Sumardji stated to reporters.
Kapadze announced his resignation from the Uzbekistan national team on Monday,November 10,2025,following the appointment of Fabio Cannavaro as head coach by the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA). He has publicly expressed his willingness to coach the Indonesian national team, acknowledging the support from Indonesian fans.
Other candidates reportedly under consideration include Bojan Hodak, currently the coach of Persib Bandung, though the club has indicated its desire to retain him. The selection process is ongoing as PSSI seeks a coach to lead the national team forward.
