Finnish Schools to Kick Off FutsalSkaba 2026, Boosting School-Club Cooperation
HELSINKI, Finland – Registration is now open for FutsalSkaba 2026, a fun futsal competition designed for preschool and primary school classes across Finland, launching January 19th and running through Febuary 13th, 2026. Organized by the Finnish football Association (Palloliitto) as part of its “Everything in the Game” initiative, FutsalSkaba aims to get all students involved – both playing and organizing matches – and foster crucial values like teamwork, cooperation, and fair play.
The competition welcomes participation from preschool classes and students in grades 1-6. Matches are primarily played between classes within the same school, though schools are also encouraged to arrange joint games with neighboring institutions. Each registered school will receive FutsalSkaba balls to use during the campaign.
“FutsalSkaba fits perfectly in the school surroundings and is intended to be as simple as possible for the schools to implement,” explains Jani Kangasniemi from the School Sports Association. “Schools and classes decide themselves when during the campaign period thay play. The matches can be played within the own school or as a joint tournament with neighboring schools.”
Beyond student engagement, FutsalSkaba presents a valuable possibility for local football and futsal clubs. “For clubs, FutsalSkaba is an excellent way to create and strengthen cooperation with schools and meet new players during the winter,” says Jarno Haanpää, club developer at the Finnish Football Association.
Adding to the excitement, the Finnish national futsal teams will participate by issuing video challenges to participating futsalskaba teams.
Schools and individual classes can register by November 30th, 2025. Associations can also register as collaboration partners.
