Oscar winner Nicole Kidman has joined the cast of Osgood Perkins‘ horror-thriller The Young People, joining Lola Tung and nico Parker.
The ensemble also includes Brendan Hines, Cush Jumbo, Heather graham, Johnny Knoxville, Lexi Minetree, Lily Collias, and Tatiana Maslany.
Currently in production in Vancouver, The Young People reportedly centers on a developing situation involving school friends and concerning behavior. Plot details remain largely undisclosed.
Neon will release the film theatrically in the U.S. and is handling international sales at the American Film Market. The project is co-financed by Lyrical Media, with producers including Perkins and Chris Ferguson for phobos, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones for Range.
The Young People marks the first project under a first-look deal between Neon and Perkins’ production banner Phobos. The pair previously collaborated on Longlegs, which grossed $75M domestically-the highest-grossing independent film of the year-and The Monkey, which achieved Neon’s second-biggest opening weekend. They are also partnering on Perkins’ upcoming film, Keeper, set for release on November 14.
Kidman recently won the 2024 venice Film Festival Best Actress prize for Babygirl and is currently in post-production on the Amazon crime series Shoe. She is well-known for her work in the genre, including the box office hit The Others.
Kidman is represented by CAA, Media Talent and Jackoway Austen.
