NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Cal Lutheran women’s basketball secured a decisive 98-57 victory over Albertus Magnus College on Sunday morning, fueled by four players scoring in double figures and a strong performance that earned Janna Holley a place on the Tyler Tip-Off All-Tournament Team. The Regals improve to 2-0 on the season with the win.
The Regals’ dominant performance in Northampton marks their largest margin of victory as December 1, 2022, when they defeated Bethesda by 40 points. This early-season success builds momentum as Cal Lutheran prepares for its home opener and the start of SCIAC competition.
Cal Lutheran established control early, racing to a 14-2 lead in the first quarter. Holley’s three-pointer late in the period extended the lead to double digits, a margin the Regals maintained throughout the contest.The Regals continued their offensive surge in the second quarter, outscoring the Falcons 30-12 to take a commanding 60-28 lead into halftime.
The third quarter saw a slower pace, but Bridget Cox’s buzzer-beating layup extended the Regals’ advantage to 76-38. Cal Lutheran continued to dominate in the fourth, ultimately completing the 41-point victory.
Sophomore Sydney Heyn recorded her first collegiate double-double, leading the Regals with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Holley, Ava Dunn, and other teammates contributed to the balanced scoring effort.
Cal Lutheran returns to action this week, hosting Stanton in its home opener.
