EA Confirms “Mass Effect” Sequel Still in⁢ Development

november 7,2025 – Despite recent industry ‌concerns,Electronic Arts adn BioWare have affirmed the continued development of a new installment in the “Mass Effect” franchise. The‌ announcement, made ‍by “Mass Effect” franchise executive producer Mike Gamble on the official bioware blog, aims to quell rumors ‌surrounding the project’s status.

The confirmation comes five years ⁣after the initial teaser release in December 2020, ⁤with updates since then being ⁤limited to discussions about continuing the original trilogy’s storyline,‌ diverging from the “Andromeda” direction.

BioWare⁣ has faced recent challenges, ‍including downsizing its development team following the release of “Dragon Age: ⁢The Veilguard.” Further anxieties arose from EA’s impending sale to a private ⁤investor group including Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and ‌Affinity ⁢Partners, owned by Jared Kushner, raising questions about potential impacts on the series’ inclusive character romance options.

“Like you,⁤ we’ve heard the rumors lately. You’ve made it clear you care deeply about what’s‍ next. So let’s start by setting the ‍record straight:⁢ the next Mass Effect game⁢ is in development, and ‌EA and BioWare remain committed to ⁤telling more stories in this universe,” Gamble stated.

He added, “The truth is, the last few years‌ have been ‌an incredibly ⁤busy ⁢time⁤ at BioWare.‌ But currently, the team is heads-down and focused exclusively on Mass Effect. We have‌ a lot of universe to cover, lots ⁤of features to build, and lots of romances ‌to figure out.”

Gamble assured ⁢fans that updates will be shared when the⁤ team is ready, acknowledging their‌ eagerness for news. He also noted ‍the game is not currently ⁤expected to launch‌ on the current generation of consoles.
