Extended Vaccination Hours Offered Against Flu and COVID in Extremadura

The Extremadura Health Service (SES) is⁣ offering extended vaccination hours against influenza and COVID-19, with afternoon ⁢appointments available‌ on November 10th and 14th. These extended hours, running from 4:30 ⁤PM to 7:30 PM, may continue into the following week based on individual health area assessments.

Currently, vaccinations are being administered without appointment at thirteen locations‌ across the region’s eight Health Areas. these locations include: CS La Data (Plasencia), ‍CS Central Zone (Cáceres),‌ Coria ‍Hospital, CS of‍ Navalmoral de la Mata, CS Urbano III (Mérida), CS San José (Almendralejo), CS of villafranca de los Barros, CS of Llerena, CS of Zafra, CS Valdepasillas⁤ (Badajoz), CS de Montijo, CS Don Benito Este‍ (Don Benito), and CS Villanueva Sur (Villanueva de la Serena).

Vaccination is available‍ for all adults and children aged six months to five years. For children in this age group, the vaccine will be administered via the intranasal route. ⁢Individuals attending ⁤afternoon vaccination sessions are reminded to bring their identification‌ and either their public health card or private ⁢health insurance card.

Along with flu ⁣and COVID-19 vaccinations, the SES has also initiated a ‍program to ⁤vaccinate against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Starting November 10th,RSV vaccination is available for adults residing in nursing homes ‍and those over‍ the age of 60. Primary‍ care teams will be visiting these facilities to administer the vaccine,a first for the region.‍ The SES also‌ strongly recommends that staff and family members⁣ of residents in these facilities ‌receive ⁤vaccinations against both flu and COVID-19 as a preventative⁢ measure. Appointments for RSV vaccination will soon be scheduled for lung transplant recipients through their respective health centers.

The SES emphasizes the importance of RSV vaccination for vulnerable populations, citing its potential to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with this virus and lessen the overall impact of respiratory infections in Extremadura.
