Freedom Marathon‘s Pegasus Half-Marathon Sells Out in record Four Hours
Runners have demonstrated unprecedented demand for teh 2026 Freedom Marathon, with all 5,000 bibs for the Pegasus half-Marathon claimed in just four hours. This marks the first event within the larger marathon program to reach full capacity, signaling notable excitement for the upcoming race.
The swift sell-out underscores the enduring appeal of the Freedom marathon,a race steeped in history and commemorating the D-Day landings. The 21-kilometer Pegasus Half-Marathon,traditionally starting at the iconic Pegasus Bridge – the first location liberated by British soldiers during the invasion – attracts participants drawn to both the athletic challenge and the poignant setting. This year’s rapid registration demonstrates sustained interest even outside of major anniversary years.
Registration remains open for the full marathon de la Liberté, which runners can tackle individually or as part of a four-person relay team. Additional opportunities will become available soon, with registration for the 10 km – Crédit Agricole normandie race opening on Monday at 10:00 AM, followed by La Rochambelle on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.
