Celtic Ban Green Brigade Following Assault on steward & Police Officers
GLASGOW, Scotland – Celtic Football Club has confirmed it will apply a previously suspended sanction against the Green Brigade supporters group, beginning this weekend, after approximately 100 supporters allegedly verbally abused and assaulted a steward and two police officers at Celtic Park on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
The incident occurred following a ticket inspection in the rail seating section of the stadium, according to a club statement.Celtic had issued the Green Brigade a suspended sanction earlier in the year due to “repeated serious safety and security-related breaches.”
“For our staff and police to be assaulted in this way is simply unacceptable,” the club stated. “this was a serious and violent incident which cannot be accepted and the club has no choice but to address this behavior in the strongest terms. Celtic Park cannot be a place for this kind of behaviour and the club must act in the wider interests and safety of everyone who attends our matches.”
Footage released by the club shows a group of fans rushing down a walkway and across a concourse.
Police Scotland have launched an appeal for witnesses. Assistant Chief Constable Mark Sutherland condemned the disorder, stating, “We utterly condemn the unacceptable disorder… after two officers and a steward were assaulted by a large group of fans. No-one should be harmed or intimidated while carrying out thier duties and being assaulted is not part of the job.” He added that the officers and steward were “extremely shaken and traumatised” and are receiving support.
