DENTON, Texas – The University of North texas women’s basketball team aims for a 2-0 start to the season Friday at 6 p.m.CT, hosting Grambling State in The Super Pit. This follows a dominant season-opening 106-36 victory over Oklahoma Christian on Monday night.
The Mean Green’s win against Oklahoma Christian marked the fifth-highest scoring game and the third-largest margin of victory in program history. Six UNT newcomers reached double figures, led by Tiffany Hammond’s career-high 22 points, including six 3-pointers. Tina Lidge also established a new personal best with 16 points in her North Texas debut.
Grambling State enters Friday’s game after a 96-70 loss to SMU on Tuesday. UNT holds a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series, having defeated the Lady Tigers 83-60 in 2023.
