Hearthstone‘s “Across the Timeways” Expansion Launches November 4th with New ‘Fabled’ Mechanic & Hidden Lore
Irvine, CA – November 2, 2025 – Blizzard Entertainment’s Hearthstone is set to launch it’s latest expansion, “Across the Timeways,” on November 4th, introducing 145 new cards alongside the innovative ‘Fabled’ mechanic, Rewind cards, and a wealth of hidden details woven into the game’s design.
The ‘Fabled’ cards arrive as bundles of three, a feature reflected in the game’s user interface. When dragging a fabled card into a deck, the UI displays the additional bundled cards fanning out. A dedicated tray in the collection view showcases all bundled and related cards, highlighting their connections. According to Sola, these subtle UI elements aim to enhance immersion during deck-building and bring the Fabled mechanic to life.
Stephan echoed this sentiment, praising the organized interface and the deck-building improvements offered by the tray system. He also noted the open-ended nature of many fabled cards, encouraging players to explore diverse strategies and synergies. Both Sola and Stephan lauded the art direction of the new set.
A playful example of the expansion’s attention to detail lies within the card design itself: King Maluk’s name was intentionally created as an anagram of Mukla. “I remember we wanted it to be related to Mukla,” Stephan told esports.gg. “And than one of the designers came up to me and was like, ‘Hey, we need an anagram for Mukla,’ and so I was like, ‘What if we just call it Maluk?’ And they’re like, ‘Perfect. We’ll name it Maluk.'”
Further enriching the lore, a banana featured in the expansion’s artwork transforms into an infinity symbol, subtly connecting to the central conflict between the Bronze Dragonflight and the Infinite Dragonflight.
“Across the timeways” also introduces Rewind cards and a host of Easter eggs for players to discover.More Hearthstone news, interviews, and updates can be found at esports.gg.
