DEL MAR, CA – Peter Brant’s Gezora surged to victory in teh Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1T) at Del Mar Racetrack on Saturday, November 1, 2025, securing a commanding win in the $2,000,000 race. The triumph marks a significant achievement for the 3-year-old filly and her connections, adding to a burgeoning career already highlighted by a Group 3 victory. The win solidifies Gezora’s position as a leading contender in the Filly & Mare Turf division and represents a ample payday for Brant, who acquired the horse following her successful 2-year-old campaign. The Breeders’ Cup victory not only elevates Gezora’s profile but also enhances the value of her pedigree, stemming from the Group 1-winning Silver Hawk mare Germance, who also produced stakes-placed winner Garance.
Gezora, trained by Francis-Henri Graffard and ridden by Mickael Barzalona, covered 1 3/8 miles on the turf course in a winning time that will be officially recorded. Brant expressed his delight, stating, “We were very, very fortunate to pick her out as a racehorse as a 2-year-old. It’s very rare that you acquire a horse like that for your racing team, your colors, and they give back to you so quickly.”
The filly initially raced for her breeder at two years old, culminating in a victory in the Prix des Reservoirs (G3). The Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, for 3-year-olds and up, drew a competitive field at Del Mar, wiht the race beginning at 5:25 PM local time.
