Charleroi put up a valiant fight, but ultimately fell short. The team continues to navigate the season without a designated opposite hitter, a critically important challenge according to head coach Loic Van de pontseele.
“It was Antwerp’s first match playing with its opposite,” Van de Pontseele explained. “Unlike us, who have been playing without an opposite since the start of the season. We started the first set well, aggressive and concentrated, and we respected the rules, which is great. Unfortunately, we lost 25-23 due to small errors and opponent attacks. During the second set, we held on, but than experienced a significant slump, allowing Antwerp to pull ahead. We adjusted our tactics and managed to turn things around. Though, in the tie-break, we repeated the mistakes from the second set. It’s only the third match of the season, and we still have a lot of work to do together to improve.”
This match highlights the competitive nature of the ladies’ volleyball league and the ongoing adjustments teams are making early in the season. The need for consistent performance and strategic adaptability will be crucial as the season progresses.
