Mother’s ‘Hormonal’ Lump During Pregnancy Revealed as Breast Cancer
BELFAST, Northern Ireland – A young mother, Amy, has shared her story after discovering a breast lump during pregnancy was actually cancer, urging other women to be vigilant about checking their breasts. Amy, now on the other side of treatment with her partner Gerald and baby daughter Mabel, hopes her experience will encourage early detection and offer comfort to others facing similar diagnoses.
Amy initially dismissed the lump as a hormonal change related to her pregnancy. However, after seeking medical advice, she was referred to the Breast Clinic where she received a cancer diagnosis. “I want to share my journey to help other women know they are not alone,” Amy said. “I found comfort hearing about others who had been through the same thing, it made me feel less isolated. Early detection is so key to saving lives. it is indeed so critically important to check your breasts.”
According to medical professionals, the majority of patients attending the Breast Clinic following tests do not require further treatment.For those diagnosed with cancer, treatment options include surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.
Amy is now focusing on her future with her family, expressing gratitude for the care she received.”It’s been a really tough year, but I am so happy to be through it.I am excited for the future with my daughter and so grateful for the care and support I have received.”
