Korea Finishes 11th at 2025 Bahrain asian Youth Games with Strong Medal Haul
Manama, Bahrain – The Republic of Korea concluded its participation in the 2025 3rd Bahrain Asian Youth Games, securing a total of 7 gold, 7 silver, and 11 bronze medals, ultimately ranking 11th overall in the multi-sport competition. The games, held throughout October, showcased emerging athletic talent from across Asia and provided a crucial proving ground for Korean athletes aspiring to compete on larger international stages.
This year’s performance builds upon previous Asian Youth Games showings and represents valuable progress for Korea’s developing athletes. The competition served as a key possibility to gain experience and confidence ahead of next year’s Dakar Summer Youth Olympics, where many of these athletes hope to represent their nation. The results demonstrate a growing strength in several sports and lay the foundation for continued growth.
Swimmer Ko Seung-woo highlighted the korean team’s success, claiming a gold medal in his event. In triathlon, Kang Woo-hyeon displayed resilience, earning a bronze medal despite challenging conditions. Teamwork proved pivotal for badminton duo Jeong Da-hwan and Kim Han-bi,who also secured a bronze in mixed doubles,as did table tennis player Lee Seung-su in the men’s individual event.
To celebrate the athletes’ achievements and successful completion of the Games without injury, a ‘Team Leader Presided Athletes’ Night’ event was held on October 30th. Players, coaches, and officials expressed gratitude and shared memorable moments from the tournament.
“I am very proud of the achievements and passion the players have achieved in a short period of time,” said Team Leader Kim Hye-young.”I hope that this competition will be an opportunity for the players to gain confidence on the international stage and a stepping stone for growth toward next year’s Dakar Summer Youth Olympics.”
The Korean team is committed to leveraging the experience gained in Bahrain to further enhance their performance in upcoming international competitions, including the Asian Games.
