PSV too Expand Philips Stadium to 45,000 Capacity by 2027

Eindhoven, Netherlands – PSV Eindhoven has received the green ⁢light to⁢ begin planning an expansion of the Philips Stadium,‌ aiming to increase capacity to at least 45,000 seats by 2027. The club, currently at its commercial capacity, initiated feasibility studies a year and a half ago to address growing demand fueled by the region’s rapid⁢ expansion.

The expansion will primarily focus on the north and east sides of the stadium, with PSV also investigating the potential to add seats to the remaining sides. Currently, twenty thousand ⁣individuals are on a⁤ waiting list⁣ for season⁢ tickets, ⁤underscoring the need for⁢ increased capacity. The club intends to self-fund the project, having resolute – ​through research conducted by ⁣Hypercube in April ⁤2024 – that the ​current stadium location remains optimal for‍ realizing these⁢ ambitions. The ‍municipality of Eindhoven has expressed enthusiastic support for​ the plan, which will bring⁣ the Philips Stadium closer in size to the ​Johan Cruijff Arena ‌in​ Amsterdam (56,000 seats) and De Kuip in Rotterdam ‌(47,500 seats).
