Ostrava Road Closure to Disrupt Public Transport, Including Trolleybus and Tram Lines
Ostrava, Czech Republic – A significant road closure in Ostrava’s Poruba district, beginning in November, will necessitate detours and temporary service suspensions for several trolleybus and tram lines. Teh disruption stems from planned track repairs at the Křižovatka intersection near Sad B. Němcové.
The changes, announced by the Ostrava Public transport Company (DPO), will primarily impact trolleybus lines 101, 102, 106, 108, 111, 112, and 113 traveling from the Main station toward the city center. These lines will be rerouted via Jirská and Mariánskohorská streets, and will temporarily bypass the Náměstí S. Čecha stop in the downtown direction. Tram line 14 will also be affected, with diversions implemented and temporary closures of the Náměstí S. Čecha and Hlavní nádraží stops.
According to DPO, trolleybuses heading towards the center will be diverted between Hlavní nádraží and Sad B.Němcové. Tram line 14 will be diverted from the Muglinovská stop, continuing to Sad B.Němcové and then towards Přívoz and Hlučínská. “There will be a change in the organization of the transport…which will take a detour in the direction from the Main Station to the center and will temporarily not serve the Náměstí S. Čecha stop (center direction),” DPO stated.
Temporary replacement bus service (NAD) will be implemented for tram line 14. In the direction of Hlavní nádraží, the NAD will operate between Muglinovská (towards the center) – Sad B. Němcové (station no.3) – Náměstí S.Čecha – Hlavní nádraží. Conversely, in the direction of Muglinovská, the NAD will run between Hlavní nádraží and Muglinovská (center direction).
Relocated temporary stops are planned: the Muglinovská stop (for NAD towards Hlavní nádraží) will move to the opposite-direction tram stop, and the Sad B. Němcové stop (for NAD towards Hlavní nádraží) will move to the bus stop at station no. 3. The Náměstí S. Čecha stop will not be served by the NAD for line 14.
