Title: Ivory Coast: ED Treatment Initiative Launched in Sub-Saharan Africa

by Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor

Abidjan, October 30, 2025 (AIP) – A new‍ initiative promises increased ⁤access to affordable erectile dysfunction (ED) treatment in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, and Ivory Coast, according to a ‍press release issued Thursday by global healthcare company Viatris.

The program aims to address the stigma surrounding male sexual ⁤health and improve treatment access in sub-Saharan Africa, where one in three⁤ men ‍with‍ ED do not consult a healthcare professional. Viatris⁤ highlights sildenafil – approved in 1998⁤ and ⁣recommended by the European Association of Urology (EAU) and the American Urological Association (AUA) ⁢- as⁤ a reliable, first-line treatment.

“For‌ over 25 years, sildenafil has been a reliable and well-tolerated treatment that has helped millions of men regain their confidence‍ and improve their quality of life,” stated Arvind Kanda, Head‍ of India and Access Markets (ARV, India, South africa and Sub-Saharan Africa) at⁢ Viatris.

Beyond treatment, the ⁣initiative seeks to raise awareness that ED can ‌be ⁢an indicator of underlying health conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, ‌hypertension, and ⁢depression, encouraging ⁤men to seek medical evaluation. The effort is part of a larger strategy to bolster healthcare access in underserved ⁣regions.
