Vietnamese Club VTV Binh Dien Long An Withdraws From 2025 FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship
Sao Paulo, Brazil - VTV Binh Dien Long An, the Vietnamese volleyball club that secured a place in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship, has announced it’s withdrawal from the tournament. The decision stems from logistical challenges and scheduling conflicts with the 33rd Southeast Asian Games.
The club cited the tournament’s location in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as creating a financially and time-intensive journey for the Southeast Asian team. More crucially, the World Championship, scheduled for December 8-14, overlaps directly with the Southeast Asian Games.
“VTV Binh Dien Long An considers that creating favorable conditions for the participation of its members and the accomplishment of their national missions is essential,” the club stated. “This is why, after consultation with the Vietnam Football Federation, the club decided not to participate in the 2025 World Cup.”
Key players from VTV Binh Dien Long An – Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Dang Thi Kim Thanh, and Le Nhu Anh – are also integral members of the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team preparing for the southeast Asian Games. Star striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is also expected to join the national team roster in December.
VTV Binh Dien Long An is not the only team impacted by the scheduling conflict. Nakhon Ratchasima Club of Thailand, which finished third in the 2025 AVC Champions League, has also withdrawn from the World Club Championship for similar reasons, prioritizing key players’ participation in the Southeast Asian games.
