The Sims Mobile to end Service in January 2026
Electronic Arts (EA) announced today, May 18, 2025, that it will discontinue support for The Sims Mobile in January 2026. Players will no longer be able to access the game after this date.
The shutdown impacts the mobile iteration of the long-running life simulation franchise, signaling a potential shift in EA’s strategy for The Sims. Industry reports suggest the decision is linked to development of “Project Rene,” a next-generation, multi-platform version of The Sims expected to refocus on a broader audience, possibly including mobile users again. The Sims Mobile originally launched in 2018, offering a streamlined Sims experience designed for on-the-go gameplay.
EA stated that in-app purchases will be removed from The Sims Mobile starting October 1, 2025. Until the servers are switched off, players can continue to enjoy the game as it currently exists. The company has not detailed specific plans for existing player data or potential migration options.
The Sims franchise, first released in 2000, has sold over 200 million life simulation game packs to date. The Sims Mobile represented EA’s attempt to capture a portion of the rapidly growing mobile gaming market with a familiar intellectual property.
