Gemini Updates Model Switcher for Easier Access
Google is redesigning Gemini’s model switcher, moving it directly into the prompt bar for web, iOS, and Android users. The update centralizes controls and allows users to change models mid-conversation, impacting accessibility and workflow within the AI chatbot.
Previously, web users encountered a “Choose your model” dropdown menu. The new design places model selection within the same interface as prompt input, improving reachability, notably on mobile devices. This change streamlines the user experience, enabling seamless adjustments between Gemini models for different responses within a single conversation. The rollout is currently live for web users and is available on iOS and Android via Google app version 16.42, currently in beta.
