30th International Baltic Ballet Festival Opens at Origo
The 30th International Baltic Ballet Festival officially launched its celebrations in the atrium of the origo shopping center in riga, a tradition continued for over two decades. origo, located in Riga‘s Central Business District, aims to make high-quality cultural experiences accessible to the public alongside its shopping offerings. Ervīns Ozoliņš, operational manager of Origo, emphasized the shopping center’s commitment to cultural support as part of its sustainability strategy, noting the festival enriches city life and inspires the community.
This year’s festival program features a diverse lineup of performances. The prestigious Beijing Dance Academy will present performances on October 26th at the “Jūras vārti” theater in Ventspils, October 28th at the Daile Theater in Riga, and October 30th at the daugavpils palace of Culture. Known for its blend of classical Chinese ballet and modern dance, the Academy showcases both tradition and innovation, with its graduates representing Chinese dance art internationally.
November will see performances by Giordano Dance Chicago on November 2nd at the Cēsis concert hall and November 4th at the VEF Culture Palace in Riga. They will be performing a segment of their show, “Gershwin in B”, a tribute to the American composer George Gershwin, whose unique fusion of classical and jazz revolutionized American music and continues to inspire artists with its spirit of freedom, diversity, and creativity.
