A Tragedy Demands Accountability

Mr. Kalyan offered his sincere condolences to the grieving family and stressed the absolute necessity of preventing similar tragedies in the future. He held an emergency video conference with Kakinada District Collector Shan Mohan and Pithapuram Area Development Authority (PADA) Project Director Chaitra, demanding immediate action and a complete report detailing the circumstances surrounding Sridurga’s death.
Zero Tolerance for Negligence
Calling maternal deaths a ”grave concern,” the Deputy CM directed a team of medical experts to conduct a full and impartial investigation. He specifically requested updates on the health and well-being of the newborn child. Crucially,he instructed district authorities to implement regular maternal death audits – a vital step in identifying systemic issues and preventing future losses. The roles of all medical staff involved, including nurses, will be carefully scrutinized.
Mr. Kalyan was unequivocal in his message: “Doctors and nurses must be fully alert – any lapse is unacceptable.” He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for negligence, insisting on unwavering vigilance throughout the entire maternal care process, from prenatal care to postnatal recovery.
Addressing Systemic Issues & Prioritizing Patient Care
Beyond the immediate investigation, the Deputy CM also addressed reports of hospital staff allegedly prioritizing personal or religious activities over patient care. He firmly stated that public hospitals exist solely for community service and warned against the pursuit of private agendas within these vital institutions.
Investing in a Better Future for Maternal Health
Looking ahead,Mr. Kalyan highlighted ambitious plans to upgrade Pithapuram Hospital into a model healthcare facility.
