Craig County Rockets Defeat Parry McCluer Blues in High-Scoring Contest
Craig County’s potent rushing attack propelled them to a 33-6 victory over the Parry McCluer Blues Friday night, marking the Blues’ second consecutive loss.The Rockets amassed 387 rushing yards,dominating a game where the Blues struggled with injuries and turnovers.
The defeat drops Parry McCluer to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in Region 1C standings, currently sixth in the region. The Blues will use a bye week to recover before hosting Bath County (4-2, 1-0) on halloween night at 7 p.m. in their final regular season home game.
Calfee led the Rockets’ ground game with 195 yards on 28 carries, scoring a 2-yard touchdown in the frist quarter. J. Smith added 149 yards on just nine attempts, while B. Smith contributed 33 yards. Parry McCluer’s offense was led by senior quarterback Nathan Glass, who completed nine of 19 passes for 104 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Rosser was Glass’s primary target, hauling in four receptions for 67 yards.
Parry McCluer managed 112 rushing yards,with Glass leading the team with 68 yards on 13 carries. However, the Blues’ offense was hampered by the Rockets’ strong defensive front and their own turnover issues.
