French screen icon Brigitte Bardot is currently receiving medical care in a private clinic,according to reports from French media outlets. The 91-year-old actress, famed for her roles in 1950s and 60s cinema, has been hospitalized for the past three weeks after a “serious illness” necessitated her leaving her Saint-tropez estate.
While details surrounding her condition remain undisclosed, sources indicate Bardot is expected to be discharged in the coming days and is recovering following a surgical procedure. Doctors continue to monitor her progress. Representatives for Bardot have been contacted for comment.
Bardot rose to prominence with her debut in 1952’s The Girl In The Bikini, quickly becoming a leading figure in postwar French cinema. Her role in Roger Vadim’s 1956 film And God Created Woman catapulted her to international stardom, cementing her status as a cultural icon. She continued to captivate audiences throughout the 1960s, with The Truth (1960) becoming her most commercially triumphant film in France and earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Film.
