Samsung has officially announced January 22, 2024, as the launch date for its highly anticipated XR headset, codenamed Project Moohan. The unveiling will coincide with Samsung’s Unpacked event in San Jose, California, confirming months of speculation surrounding the device.
The announcement follows a surprise appearance of the headset at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit in September, where it was displayed within a glass case bearing Samsung’s branding. While specifications remained undisclosed at the time, the showcase ignited considerable excitement for the company’s first extended reality headset built on an Android platform. Rumors suggest the device may incorporate Sony 4K micro-OLED displays, potentially featuring a 1.3-inch internal display per eye.
Samsung has yet to confirm whether the U.S.launch will align with the South Korean release, with earlier reports indicating a potential staggered rollout to allow the company to evaluate initial sales performance.
