Falcons Soar Past bills, Claim 24-14 Victory
Atlanta, GA – The Atlanta Falcons defeated the Buffalo Bills 24-14 on Sunday, marking the Bills’ second consecutive loss and handing them the lead in the AFC East to the New England Patriots. The Falcons’ victory improves their record to 3-2, keeping them within striking distance of the NFC South-leading Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-1).
Buffalo struggled throughout the game, falling behind 21-7 by halftime. Despite a blocked field goal in the second half, the Bills’ offense failed to find a rhythm. Bills quarterback Josh Allen completed 15 of 26 passes for 180 yards,two touchdowns,and two interceptions,contributing to a total of three turnovers for Buffalo – mirroring their performance against the Patriots the previous week. James Cook led the Bills’ rushing attack with 87 yards on 17 carries, but the offense proved largely one-dimensional. Joshua Palmer was the top receiving target with 60 yards, while Elijah Moore lost a fumble.
The Falcons delivered a complete team performance. Michael Penix Jr. completed 20 of 32 passes for 250 yards, including a touchdown pass to Drake London for 158 receiving yards. Running back Bijan Robinson was a standout performer, totaling 170 rushing yards and 68 receiving yards for a career-high 238 scrimmage yards. Tyler Allgeier also contributed a touchdown, including an 87-yard run. The Falcons’ defense consistently pressured Allen, with linebacker DeAngelo Malone sealing the victory with a tipped interception in the final seconds.
