Maryland STEM Festival 2025: Events & Activities

Maryland STEM Festival to Embark on Month-Long Statewide Tour in 2025

LAUREL, MD – The Maryland STEM Festival will return October 17 – November 16, 2025, bringing a diverse array⁤ of science, technology, engineering, and math events directly ‍to communities across the state. Unlike conventional festivals requiring​ travel, the Maryland STEM Festival aims to meet attendees where thay ⁣are with hundreds of interactive,⁣ hands-on ⁣experiences.

The 2025 festival will emphasize discovery and inclusion, with events open to the public​ and many offered free of charge. Programs are designed ⁢to engage learners⁢ of all ages and interests, from young makers to​ aspiring scientists and lifelong learners, and demonstrate the real-world impact of STEM ⁣fields.

this year’s theme is “Energy!” The festival kicks off with a‍ free‍ Opening Ceremony on Thursday, ⁢October 16, from 6-8 p.m. at Capital Technology University in Laurel, featuring interactive STEM activities, demonstrations, and refreshments. Registration is encouraged but not required.

Highlights include the Lower Shore STEM Festival on Saturday, October 18, from 9 a.m.-noon at​ Salisbury University, where attendees can meet former astronaut Don thomas and WDMT meteorologist Erich Ahlf. The first 100 students will receive a free festival t-shirt,⁣ and the event ‍will feature “The Science of Sorcery” with magician Dave Thomen, alongside exhibits in‌ robotics, ‍astronomy, and aviation.

Additional events planned​ throughout the month include the Blue Collar STEM⁤ Conference​ and Job Fair in columbia, the Frederick⁢ STEM Carnival at Carroll Creek Amphitheater ​in Frederick, a Nintendo afternoon, an eSports Conference, and a Girl STEM Powerment event.

The festival culminates with a free Closing Ceremony on Sunday, November 16, from 1-4 p.m. at the Gaithersburg ⁣Library, featuring⁢ speeches from STEM leaders, interactive activities, and demonstrations with light refreshments.
