Lombardy Opens Free Flu Shots to All Residents
Milan,Italy – October 13,2024 – In a significant public health move,the Lombardy region today announced free influenza vaccination is now available to all citizens,irrespective of age or health status. The expansion follows the accomplished completion of a priority vaccination phase, which delivered 142,201 doses.
The initiative aims to curb the spread of influenza and mitigate severe complications,particularly among vulnerable populations,and ultimately reduce strain on regional emergency services and hospitals.
Residents can receive the flu vaccine through their general practitioner or pediatrician. Participating pharmacies are also offering vaccinations to adults who have previously received a flu shot, and local Asst vaccination centers are available. Beyond flu protection, the Lombardy Region is also actively promoting immunization against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). A free monoclonal antibody is available, particularly crucial for newborns. infants born between October 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, can receive the antibody at the hospital where they were born.Those born between April 1, 2025, and September 30, 2025, can access it through their pediatrician or at regional vaccination centers.
