Manitoba Taekwondo Prodigy sets Sights on 2032 Olympics After Rising Through ​the Ranks

WINNIPEG,MB – Paige Krahn,a young athlete⁣ from Manitoba,is rapidly making a name for⁤ herself ⁤in the world of taekwondo,with her sights‌ firmly set on competing at the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane,Australia. The dedicated fighter recently ‍returned from a European‌ competition with her Manitoba team and is already preparing for the national championships in‍ February 2026, aiming to reclaim her national title ​and ⁣solidify her position on⁢ the​ Canadian ⁣team.

Krahn’s ⁤journey to potential Olympic contention is fueled by unwavering dedication and significant family support. Her parents have provided ​logistical support, constant encouragement, ‍and financial sacrifices to help her pursue her dream, with the understanding that⁢ her academic results remain a priority. This commitment has yielded impressive results, including a bronze medal at the 2024 Australian competition and a bronze medal at the 2025 Canadian Junior Championships in the women’s -68 kg category.

“She always gave 100%. And ⁢we are very proud of ⁣it,”‌ her father stated,‌ acknowledging he hadn’t ​anticipated the extent of her success.​ Krahn herself describes the sport ⁣as requiring strategic thinking, stating,‍ “You ⁤have to use tactics like a game⁤ of⁤ chess.”

The turning point for‍ Krahn came approximately two years ago,according‍ to her mother,Reba ‍Krahn,when‍ she‌ “decided about two years ago that this was what she ⁣really wanted,and she started working harder than ever.” This intensified‍ focus⁤ led to ⁣provincial successes and ultimately, a place on the Canadian team. While logistical challenges prevented her from attending the 2024 world championships in Mexico, she continued to compete​ internationally, ‍demonstrating her resilience and​ commitment.

Despite a recent trip⁤ to Europe with her Manitoba team ⁢yielding ​no titles, Krahn remains optimistic. ⁤”My goal ‍is the 2032 Olympic Games!” she declared. She also expressed gratitude for the support system surrounding her, ⁣adding, “everyone ‍around me has helped and encouraged ‍me so much, done everything ⁤possible to help me realise ​my ‍dream, that I hope to continue doing taekwondo for as long as possible.” Her ‌parents echoed this sentiment, stating their ⁢wish is simply for her to ⁤”achieve her goals whatever they may be, that she is resilient and⁣ strong.”
