FC bayern Launches Fan-Designed Stadium Collection Following Jersey Controversy
Munich – FC Bayern Munich unveiled a new stadium collection on Friday, a direct response to recent fan protests over teh club’s new jersey designs. The line, developed in collaboration with the Südkurve ultras group, emphasizes the club’s traditional colors and a return to a classic aesthetic.
The release comes amid notable backlash from supporters regarding the modern jersey designs, which many felt strayed too far from Bayern’s iconic identity. This collection aims to bridge that divide by prioritizing heritage and fan input, offering a tangible symbol of unity and a nod to the club’s storied past. The move signals a willingness from Bayern to listen to its fanbase and incorporate their preferences into official merchandise.
The collection features three items: a simple red T-shirt with white Adidas stripes, collar, and sleeve trim, bearing the ”FC Bayern München” lettering as seen on the team’s jerseys; a red and white striped scarf; and a 60×40 centimeter flag divided into red and white segments.
Notably, all three products incorporate the FC Bayern logo used from 1997 to 2002, complete with the “e.V.” (eingetragener Verein – registered association) designation that was part of the club’s crest before the professional football division was spun off as a public limited company.
“Anyone who remembers the great successes and the evenings in the european Champions’ Cup or the venerable Olympic Stadium instantly has three images in their mind: players in radiant red jerseys, a Südkurve full of red and white striped scarves, and a sea of flags under the scoreboard,” FC Bayern stated regarding the new line.
The club intends to revive its rich history in the present, working alongside the Südkurve. It remains to be seen whether this collection will fully quell the discontent surrounding the new jerseys, but it represents a significant step toward addressing fan concerns and reaffirming the club’s commitment to its traditions.
